Description

Introducing Clematis Elpis, named in collaboration with the Prostate Cancer Research Charity after the Greek goddess of hope, symbolising hope for a cure. Bred by renowned Clematis breeder Raymond J. Evison, this compact Clematis boasts deep red flowers with a rounded shape spanning 4-5" and striking yellow anthers. It blooms abundantly from May to July, with a dependable repeat bloom that extends into September. The flowers retain their vibrant color with minimal fading.

Clematis Elpis stands out not only for its plentiful blooms, but also for overcoming a typical drawback of red clematis: poor foliage. Instead, it has lush green leaves that beautifully complement its rich red flowers. With its modest size, reaching 47", Elpis is a lovely choice for a patio, planter, or the middle to front of a garden border, where its long-lasting series of blooms can be fully appreciated.

How to care for Clematis Elpis:
This modern Clematis in the Raymond Evison collection is known for its ease of flowering and responds well to simple pruning. Cut back all stems to about 6" above the soil in late winter or early spring. Clematis Elpis grows up to 47" each season, and prefers a spot in full sun and well-drained soil.
